We had previously met or spoken to relatives in Scotland on a previous trip in mid 1996. So, armed with information from that 1996 trip, and further information from relatives here in Australia, and old photographs, we then set off on our holiday.
As most of her relatives came from the Glasgow area in Lanarkshire (pre 1974 County changes) we focused on that area. We eventually found the house where they lived at Dechmont, near Gilbertfield Castle, on the Dechmont Rifle Range. The property is now owned by the Ministry of Defence. We compared old photographs of the house with what we saw. Nothing much has changed, except that the windows and doors are barred and boarded up.
